The 1st Research Poster Competition was held at Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University, Larkana. It was organized by Dr. Mir Hassan Khoso, Director of the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC). Students from all constituent colleges participated including Chandka Medical College (CMC), Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College(GMMMC), Bibi Aseefa Dental College (BADC), Benazir College of Nursing (BCON), Institute of Pharmacy & Institute of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Sciences (IPRS) and Gambat Medical College (GMC). Moreover, Postgraduate students working in various medical & surgical wards of Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) also presented their research Posters. More than 90 posters exhibited abstracts of scientific papers.

Vice Chancellor Prof Nusrat Shah said I'm surprised to see so much enthusiasm and motivation among students for research. She said students have chosen important and relevant topics for research eg diabetes, high blood pressure, HIV AIDS, Hepatitis, Asthma, and mental health. She said our students are very talented and willing to work hard for conducting research, they just need guidance and some training. She said we want to promote a research culture in the university and the university will pay for publication charges if students research papers get accepted by impact factor journals.

The first 10 research posters who won the competition were given cash prizes. Postgraduate students who won were presented shields by the Vice Chancellor. All participating students were given Certificates. The panel of judges included Prof. Alam Ibrahim, Prof. Gulzar Ahmed Sheikh, Prof. Amar Lal Gurbakhshani, Prof. Sayed Yusuf Shah, Prof. Qararo Shah, Prof. Shanti Lal, and Prof. Shahid Hussain Soomro.
